Practice Exams $59 through August 31

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

For the rest of the month, PrepLogic is keeping the price of our practice exams lowered to just $59. As many of you know, almost 80% of certified professionals use practice exams to pass their tests. So, if you’re working towards passing a certification exam it’s very important that you get a great practice exam that will help you get prepared for exam day.

For years, one of our most popular practice exams is for the CCNA certification. The Cisco CCNA Certification is still one of the most important credentials a technician can earn. PrepLogic’s Practice Exams give you the most practical and reliable training you can get for this exam with 6 complete practice test modules. You’ll have the option of using simulation mode, which is a straight up simulation of your exam, or learning mode which gives you the opportunity to customize and randomize the exam for your own needs. There’s over 340 questions available in this practice exam, which will give you plenty of experience answering questions before test day. Want to test your skills now? Check out this sample question from our CCNA Practice Exam:

Question
You have two routers within your network, and you need to enable RIP as your routing protocol. The routers are connected by the 192.168.1.0/24 network. Router A also has an interface in the 10.1.1.0/24 network. Router B has an interface in the 172.16.0.0/16 network. What are all the commands necessary to enable RIP on router B, and ensure all connected networks are reachable by router A?

Select the best answer.

A. router rip
B. router rip network 192.168.1.0
C. enable router rip network 10.0.0.0 network 192.168.1.0
D. router rip network 172.16.0.0 network 192.168.1.0

Exhibit:

Q63-Exhibit

The correct answer is D

Explanations
Answer A is incorrect because this command would just activate the routing protocol.

Answer B is incorrect. In order to ensure that router A learns all the connected networks on router B, you must use the network command for each interface, and directly connnected interfaces.

Answer C is incorrect because “enable router rip” is not a correct command.

Answer D is the correct choice. The “router rip” command activates RIP as the routing protocol. The “network” command then activates RIP processing for interfaces associated with the networks. In order for router B to propagate and receive information, both the 192.168.1.0 and 172.16.0.0 network statements must be present.

PrepLogic’s CCNA Practice Exam also provides advanced scoring and testing features to help increase your learning speed, as well as integration with Lecture Series audio training to give you audio coaching along the way. The everyday price for the CCNA practice exam is over $100, so now is a great time to pick it up for just $59. All of our practice exams will be discounted from now through August 31. If you have any questions about the CCNA Practice Exam (or any of our other exams for Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco and many more) give our guys a call at 1-800-418-6789. Thanks and good luck on your exam.

U.S. Army Developing Private Cloud

Monday, August 9th, 2010
The U.S. Army is in the early stages of development of its own private cloud computing environment. The Army Private Cloud (APC2) is being developed “to reduce cost and energy use while improving the Army’s cybersecurity posture and speed of innovation.” An ultimate goal of the APC2 is to consolidate the number of Army data center worldwide from approximately 200 to fewer than 20.
In July a series of Requests for Proposal were issued indicating that the APC2 project is being contracted in two separate parts. The first project involves the development of a private cloud environment housed in fixed data centers. The other project involves mobile containerized data centers “that can meet urgent needs in contingency operations or where rapid or temporary cloud computing is needed.” The requests for proposal represent an attractive opportunity for private contractors with a potential budget of $249 million.

Server 2008 Active Directory (70-640) and (83-640): What’s the Difference?
Many of our callers recently have asked what the difference is between TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring (70-640) and TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring (83-640). So, here’s the answer.
The difference between the (70-640) and (83-640) is the format of some of the questions you’ll be be asked.
The (83-640) exam is mostly multiple choice questions, but also includes some performance-based “virtual-lab questions.” The (70-640) exam includes only multiple choice questions.
That’s the only difference. The content you need to know to pass is the same for either the (70-640) and (83-640) exams. The performance-based “virtual lab” questions on the (83-640) exam allow a technician to prove their knowledge by completing various tasks in a lab environment. These are tasks that you must know in order to pass either exam. So, your study and preparation will likely be the same for either version of the exam.
The price of admission is the same, whether you’re taking the (70-640) or (83-640). Like all Microsoft exams, (70-640) or (83-640) are available only at Prometric Test Centers. Microsoft vouchers are essentially “one size fits all,” so you can take either exam wiwith a Prometric Microsoft Voucher.

PrepLogic’s Hiring Manager Secret #8

8. Don’t Look Stupid on the Internet
Social Media makes it very tempting to be more and more transparent about your personal life. It can be easy to let your guard down and reveal facts that shouldn’t be for public consumption. Now is the time to reel it back in.  Carefully manage your privacy settings and closely monitor the content you allow to be seen publically. Better yet, you may want to follow this rule: only post material that you’d show directly to your boss. It’s important to be in control of your online presence. Employers Google your name, you should do the same to see what comes up.
Be purposeful about your online presence. In response to an online blog, one poster commented that this year they planned to “be more diligent at linking my LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook strategies in order to facilitate more of a personal connection.” This is a wise strategy you can employ for yourself. It’s also important to keep to the topic at hand. Not all social media serve the same purpose. Look at what the “mission statements” are for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN.

Stick to the topic! Try not to include too much personal activity on your LinkedIN. Your contacts won’t appreciate it. Don’t use Facebook and LinkedIN for minute-by-minute updates, that’s what Twiter is for. Use your social and professional media to your advantage, don’t let it tear you down. Also, make sure thay you use the highest integrity with your screen names, avatars, email addresses and even your passwords.
